Year Three Documentary Idea

   

Summary:  Many people will like many of the ideas and upgrades, but will find it hard to believe that a chain reaction will keep doubling so as to go around the world in 17 years.  To increase their confidence in our work and to shorten the time that it takes to reach the world, we've thought of producing a documentary in our third year that summarizes the progress of the projects, and especially the growth of the chain reaction of empowerment. The documentary will have two major impacts.  First, since the initial participants know that they or their efforts will be broadcast via the documentary, they will have additional incentive to work hard. Second, the documentary will be a way to more quickly communicate the tools and methods to the world. Thus instead of taking 17 years, it might be shortened to five or six years.  This is true even if the documentary is not a commercial success.  Even if it's spread only on DVD by a more progressive subset of the population, it will spread, as long as there has been reasonable success and growth in the first three years.

If you asked a group of 100 people if they would like to be part of a peace movement, you might get very few volunteers.  But if you ask a group of 100 people if they would like to be part of a movie about a chain reaction of empowerment that spreads around the world, you are likely to get many more volunteers!  This project takes advantage of that human desire for attention. It also helps keep people motivated.  Seventeen years is too far away for many people to wait.  Having some closure after three years is much more stimulating!  This documentary gives additional incentive and additional kudos to the people who start Group Genie. After three years, we will have mature programs that will attract people, and we will have the experience base that gives people confidence in our methods and programming.  It's at the start that we need the additional stimulation that being part of a documentary will provide.

Plans and Needs: To take quality video of people who become involved in some of the projects, as well as taking video of people using or participating in our projects. Thus we need videographers and other people with video production skills.

 

Potential Impact: As mentioned, it will have a dual impact:  To help motivate participants to work harder, and to accelerate the spread of these methods.
